PE: Mr. LopezMy name is Ramon Lopez and I am originally from Las Cruces New Mexico. I am looking forward to working at Horizon and having a positive impact on student’s lives. I am committed to my student’s success and consider it a privilege to work with such a diverse student population. My instruction includes a wide variety of ways to connect to students learning. For example, my use of lecture, video, audio and group instruction has allowed me to connect with student’s different learning styles. I have a Bachelors degree in Digital Film Making and use this knowledge to make video and audio-based lessons that are very interactive for students. My passion is physical education. I received a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Secondary Physical Education at New Mexico State University. I have had experience in teaching at all different levels from kindergarten all the way to high school. Again, my commitment to the students can be seen in my lessons, where I provide both modifications and challenges in order for my students to experience success and to provide them with the best possible physical education experience. Student voice is very important to me I make it a point to listen to my students and respect their opinions about the types of activities students are interested in and what they want to participate in. I practice a student-centered inquiry as curriculum approach. In this approach the students work together in developing the curriculum, students are included in the entire process, which allows for a more fulfilling and meaningful physical education experience for all my students. I have had a significant experience in implementing this approach at both the high school and middle school levels with very promising results. I hope to continue to develop and implement this approach in order for my students to not only enjoy physical activity but also want to continue to be physically active for a lifetime.

Art: Mrs. Deneault6 Hello! I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I am Mrs. Deneault (Duh-nalt), your child’s art teacher for the 2016-17 school year.
This is my 9th year teaching art and my 5th year at Horizon. Before working here, I taught art at Challenger Middle School and prior to that, I taught preschool for 4 years. I also taught Arts and Crafts, Cooking and Manners for 3 years. As you can tell, I enjoy working in the Arts. I addition to being an art teacher I am a wife and mother of 1. My family is “All In” with GESD. My husband, Russell works at the District Office in the IT department. My daughter is a First grader here at Horizon. I am excited for this school year. I have some great ideas and projects planned for your child. We will be working on projects for Art Exhibitions within both the school district and the state of Arizona. Throughout this school year, your child will be absorbed into the art world. We will be looking at the different art styles throughout the centuries and how the Elements of Art and Principals of Design work in these styles. With each study, we will discuss the most renowned artist of the time. We will look at how they created their art so your child will be able to create their own artwork using the different elements, principals, and techniques learned. In these times of economical hardship, I find myself in need of many art supplies. Therefore, I am asking if you are able to donate to the art room any of the tools we need to have fun and be creative this year it would be greatly appreciate it. The items we need are crayons, markers, colored pencils, black felt tip pens, pencils, and watercolors. I am looking forward to getting to know your child and watching their creativity flourish. Warmly, Dawn Deneault [email protected] "I am an artist… I am here to live out loud." ~ Emile Zola |
